Dear President Trump. Roy Moore has trouble following the 10 commandments he preaches. My hunch, my enemy, is that you do too. So, let’s try cutting things down to 6 actions we should be taking on a regular basis. They come from the book of Matthew. 1. Feed the hungry. 2. Give drink to the thirsty. 3. Welcome the stranger. 4. Clothe the naked. 5. Care for the sick. 6. Visit those in prison. As you know, being a Christian yourself, these are not just suggestions for better living, but conditions of becoming part of God’s Koinonia. Funny, isn’t it, how people prattle on about God’s priorities for humanity: moral purity, biblical literalism, racial superiority, standing for flags, punishment for sinners. Yet Jesus lays down a list of actions to be taken. I pray your actions reflect the faith you espouse. You talk of possible amnesty for Michael Flynn and actually for Joe Arpaio. Why not amnesty for Hilary Clinton, Muslims, Immigrants, refugees, the poor and others you disapprove of… the hungry, the thirsty, the homeless, those without clothing or shelter, the sick, those without insurance, the prisoners. If 6 actions are too much for you, I will try to cut down the number tomorrow. God loves you… and I am trying. 12 16 17.
